Best friggin’ mix I’ve ever heard… does it get better…? I haven’t heard one yet!

Here is are two clips from a song I’m currently into, Breaking Benjamin “Forget It.”

The first clip is dry (no effects). The other, has three effects:

• Reverb
• Delay
• Vintage Warmer Plugin

I kinda like the fx, they seem subtle but important. What do you think? Too much effect? Not enough? What up?!?!

I cut out all the BS and combined all seven tracks. One track is off and it’ll be apparent, so it probably won’t make it to the final mix.

Aside from that - from that - I didn’t do anything else. Okay… a little broadsword volume adjustments. Nothing serious.

So here is the next revision of “Come and Let Me Out” (still not sure about that name) And don’t worry… the Rob Zombie tribute is still intact.

I can’t believe I’m posting this… but I figure I tell people to do this type of stuff at work… so I should lead by example right?

A few months back, an old friend called and asked if I would write lyrics and sing for a song he wrote (wow, that is a complicated sentence). I figured, “why not” and started listening to the song.

It’s pretty catchy. Jason (aka “the old friend”) did a good job.

Tonight fucking rocked! The end. Put a period on that.

Yeah, that’s right, it rocked SO HARD that I actually swore for the first time in a post… AND I’M LEAVING IT! Muhahaha!

So what made tonight so sweet?

Recently an old friend of mine Jon Nixon began working with me at Cimbrian. He’s been in a few bands and has always had a passion for singing (used to get on my fucking nerves when he’d start singing at work… it was a while back though… shhh… don’t tell me… opps… another curse word! :-/ )

Here is another piece of garbage I hacked together. It may be hard to tell, but yes, I’m singing the melody and the lower growl track.

For those of you with an ear for production, you’ll notice that there is ZERO REVERB, COMPRESSION, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF PRODUCTION MODIFICATIONS!

Mike, with a local band “Lucid,” gave me the advice, so we’ll see how it works. That … and I’m not in the mood to screw around with Adobe Audition anymore. Maybe later. I need to learn how to do this audio production stuff for real … :-/
