After a devastating loss of data from a 250 gig hard drive failing… I bought two Maxtor OneTouch III external hard drives. They offer two 500 gig hard drives in an enclosure that you can RAID 1 or 0. I mirrored them and thought that my backup issues were resolved.

Nope.

When I restarted my computer, it ran CHKDSK on the drive and corrupted everything! I just lost a bunch of data… AGAIN!

So now I’m pissed.

This guy saved my sanity. He taught me how to disable specific drives from being chkdsk checks on startup.

It’s actually pretty easy in Windows XP:

Run -> CMD
chkntfs /x c: d: e:

Just keep adding drives. Hit enter… and the registry edits are made for you.

I’ve wrestled with the issue of breaking up BrianShoff.com for too long. I’m doing it!

Instead of having one main blog at BrianShoff.com, I’m going to divide it into separate sites. Shoffyism is now officially my personal blog. In other words, if you aren’t in my family or a friend, you won’t care about it.

Shoffyism is also a first for me. I’ve given in. I’m finally convinced that I should remove the “www” prefix from my domain. I’m now a part of the “Save the W’s” movement.

And away we go!
